This PAID contractor opportunity provides hands-on experience in sports event management, allowing interns to oversee baseball and softball tournaments at premier venues across the country. Tournament Directors play a crucial role in ensuring smooth event operations, managing on-site logistics, and providing an exceptional experience for players, coaches, and spectators. This role requires travel and a strong understanding of baseball or softball rules and regulations. Tournament Directors will be responsible for multiple teams and fields, working directly with event staff, umpires, and coaches to ensure successful tournaments. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism, problem-solving skills, and strong customer service. Primary Areas of Responsibility: Serve as the on-site representative of Athletx Sports Group, upholding the company’s reputation and ensuring smooth tournament execution. Report directly to the Event Director of the assigned tournament. Manage multiple fields and facilities, overseeing games and event operations. Work team check-in at Opening Ceremonies for assigned age groups. Arrive early at tournament sites to prepare for daily operations. Attend mandatory morning staff meetings to review assignments and event details. Gather and distribute essential game materials, including scorecards, softballs, and other necessary items. Conduct pre-game meetings with coaches and umpires, explaining tournament rules and facilitating coin flips. Build strong rapport with coaches, umpires, and tournament participants. Oversee game schedules, ensuring games stay on time and scores are reported correctly to the Event Director. Provide on-site customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving issues involving coaches, parents, and umpires. Assist with other aspects of the event, such as merchandise sales, equipment setup, and support for different age groups as needed. Facilitate event programming, including Opening and Closing Ceremonies and Skills Competitions. General Job Skills & Abilities: Strong knowledge and experience in baseball or softball. Willingness and ability to travel throughout the summer. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with teams, coaches, umpires, and staff. High level of professionalism, reliability, and punctuality. Ability to manage multiple tasks and teams efficiently in a high-energy environment. Strong problem-solving and crisis management skills to address in-game issues or disputes. Excellent customer service mindset and ability to create a positive experience for all participants. Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and lift/move equipment when necessary. Must be proactive, adaptable, and able to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
