About Neurodevelopmental Services

Neurodevelopmental Services (NDS) provides essential support for children and adolescents diagnosed with autism and related neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, sensory processing and behavior difficulties, language and social communication challenges, learning disabilities, trauma, and other cognitive and developmental impairments. Pacific Clinic’s new Neurodevelopmental Center located at 1302 N. 4th Street in San Jose aims to ensure children and teens have access to comprehensive neurodevelopmental evaluations to receive accurate diagnosis, as well as provide a unique and exceptional learning environment for treatment that focuses on social developmental and behavioral skill acquisition through a variety of therapeutic group experiences.

Our group service-delivery model at our center includes:

Parent Training Groups
Social Skills groups (ages 18 months – 21 years of age)

Our interdisciplinary team consists of speech and occupational therapists, psychologists, psychological associates, pre-doctoral psychology trainees, board certified behavior analysts, and registered behavior technicians. We work together to ensure children and teens receive expert diagnostic evaluations and a smooth transition to therapeutic services if diagnosed with a neurodevelopmental condition.

Compensation We Offer

The initial compensation for this position ranges from $44.18 to $54.33 /HR.
Salary is dependent on commensurate experience above the minimum qualifications for the role and internal equity considerations.
The salary may also vary if you reside in a different location than the location posted.
8% License Differential for LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, PsyD. and select Peer Certifications.
7.5% Bilingual Differential for qualified positions
$3,000 hiring incentive payout after 30 days and 6 months!

JOB SUMMARY

Under close supervision, provides psychological services by applying psychological principles in the following major areas: assessment, treatment, research, training, and clinical consultation.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Provides a full-range of professional psychological services and a full-range of professional psychological services relating to the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric and co-occurring disorders.
Responsible for selecting, administering, and interpreting various types of psychological testing instruments, and for providing individual, group and family therapy.
Generates reports of diagnostic and psychological findings and/or treatment recommendations.
Performs direct service activities including diagnostic evaluation, structured clinical interviewing, and individual, group, and family therapy.
Utilizes a variety of treatment modalities such as psychotherapy, behavior modification, and various evidence-based or promising practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy.
Intervenes with clients to enhance their ability to fully participate in treatment, including defining treatment goals and designing intervention strategies that support recovery and resiliency.
Evaluates client response to treatment, modifies treatment strategies and includes the client as part of the decision-making process.
Obtains and studies medical, psychological, social and family histories, by interviewing individuals, couples, or families and reviewing relevant records.
As a member of multidisciplinary treatment team, plans treatment programs and disposition of cases, including identifying treatment outcomes.
Participates in agency grand rounds concerning psychological assessment methods, techniques and results.
Assists in carrying out psychological research studies and multidisciplinary projects.
Participates in psychology training committee activities - may provide supervision support to psychology interns and psychology practicum students.
Other duties as program requires.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Competency and Knowledge of:

Abnormal, developmental, personality, and social psychology.
Theory and practice of individual and group psychotherapy.
Crisis intervention techniques.
Applicable legal and ethical professional standards.
Federal, State, and local laws governing mental health services.
APA standards as they relate to client treatment, patient rights, client/patient confidentiality and other ethical issues.
Principles of psychopharmacology and psychobiology, psychometric and statistical theories and methodology.
Psychological research methods and experimental design.
Community agencies and resources.
Administration and interpreting gold standard assessment measures and providing diagnostic clarification related to broad range of psychiatric diagnoses, with supervision.

Ability to:

Establish positive and therapeutic relations with clients.
Conduct crisis intervention and make appropriate referrals.
Select, administer, and score various psychological assessments.
Design appropriate treatment interventions, evaluate results, and make modifications as needed.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, management, and representatives of community organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Doctoral degree in Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counselling Psychology or a discipline deemed equivalent by the State Department of Consumer Affairs, Board of Psychology.
Depending on County of Assignment: Registered Psychological Associate with the California Board of Psychology or a Department of Mental Health Waiver.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

One (1) year APA Accredited Doctoral Internship with training in severe psychopathology and community mental health services.
Two (2) years within the past five (5) years of work experience and/or training in community mental health or acute psychiatric care facilities.

OR

Equivalent combination of training, supervision and experience as identified above in #1 or #2 may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Experience with children and families diagnosed with neurodevelopmental challenges (e.g., autism, ADHD, language delays, learning disorders, etc.).
