We are hiring a Lead/Principal Product Designer to help craft the future of Slack. Principal Designers are leaders within our teams, helping to set the tone for work at Slack by being humble, smart, and collaborative. They define product direction and set a high bar for design. They carry features from vision through execution and launch, prototyping and honing the design to ensure it works for Slack’s diverse user base. The Platform team empowers developers and non-developers alike with intuitive tools and building blocks to customize Slack, integrate workflows, and unlock new ways of working. Responsibilities include working cross-functionally with product and engineering partners to represent the design team, facilitate design discussions, and ensure design quality; collaborating closely with leadership to define features and influence product direction; designing flows, prototypes, sketches, and high-fidelity UI; working closely with engineering to ensure high-quality implementation and user experience; leading by example with hands-on design work and mentoring teammates; providing clear, constructive feedback; identifying connections across initiatives to deliver cohesive user experience; mentoring other designers, supporting hiring, and evolving design team practices. Requirements include at least 7 years of experience in product design for desktop or mobile, a portfolio demonstrating strong interaction and visual design and systems thinking, experience designing for platforms or developer tools, understanding of developer workflows, familiarity with APIs, events, and webhooks, ability to thrive in fast-paced environments, experience working across disciplines, fluency with prototyping, strong self-direction, and excellent communication skills.
