Job Description
Position: Freelance 3D Artist – African World-Building Specialist
Location: Remote (3-4 Intermittent Teams/Zoom calls required) - Anywhere
Project Type: Contract/Freelance (Project-based, one city/town at a time). Time: Medium detail 35-40 hrs estimated for each city/town.
We are building a stylized 3D world inspired by African architecture, landscapes, and cultural heritage and need a skilled freelance 3D artist to bring these environments to life. Projects will begin with a short kickoff call to define scope, timeline, and pay for each location. Mood board, concept images, and architectural references will be provided for each location.
Freelance artist will work one city or town at a time, with each location requiring:
3D modeling (structures, terrain, props)
Texturing & lighting (authentic, culturally grounded aesthetics) - preferred but not required.
Nice to have 3-5 second animation loops - preferred but not required.
All work remains confidential; portfolio use requires permission.
Completed 3D models (FBX/OBJ formats) will be provided at conclusion of work for commercial use.
Software Requirements (Proficient in at least one listed below)
Blender (preferred), Maya, ZBrush, Unreal, 3ds Max, Rhino 3D
Skill Preferences:
Portfolio showing 3D environments (architectural/landscape focus).
Ability to create short, loopable animations (3-5 seconds).
Knowledge of African architectural styles, cultural motifs, and terrain.
