Now Hiring: Aquatic Supervisor – Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center City of Plano Parks & Recreation Department The City of Plano Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a dynamic and experienced Aquatic Supervisor to lead and oversee all aquatic operations at the Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center. This pivotal role involves managing staffing, operations, and programming across the facility’s two indoor and two outdoor pools, supported by a dedicated team of 4 full-time and up to 150 part-time aquatic staff. Key Responsibilities: Supervise daily operations of all aquatic facilities, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. Develop, implement, and evaluate aquatic programs and services to meet community needs. Recruit, train, and manage a diverse team of lifeguards, instructors, and support staff. Monitor and maintain compliance with all safety regulations, including lifeguard certifications and facility standards. Collaborate with facility management and other departments to coordinate schedules and events. Oversee maintenance and operational readiness of pool equipment and infrastructure. About the Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center: The Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center is an 82,000-square-foot facility offering a variety of amenities, including: Two indoor pools: a competitive 25-yard, 8-lane pool with a diving board, and a family leisure pool featuring a lazy river, hydrotherapy benches, and a children’s play structure. Two outdoor leisure pools with play fountains and zero-depth beach entry. Additional facilities include basketball courts, a fitness center, game room, and classrooms. In early 2025, the center began a $15.9 million renovation—the most extensive in its 17-year history. Enhancements include HVAC and roof replacements, updated locker rooms, improved landscaping, and modernized pool equipment. The project is expected to be completed by late 2025, providing a refreshed and state-of-the-art environment for staff and patrons alike.
